About Kingfisher 3D Printing
It was a rainy day in the early 1970s when my mother, whose maiden name was Fisher, would pull out the craft supplies. “Can’t go outside today,” she’d say, spreading paints and brushes across the kitchen table. “Time to make something.” Little did either of us know that decades later, I’d be making things every day – and that dragons would literally pay my rent.

The Story Behind the Name
Kingfisher isn’t just a business name – it’s a tribute to the woman who first put creative tools in my hands. My mother’s maiden name was Fisher, and those rainy day craft sessions planted the seeds for everything I do now. From childhood art projects to 40+ years of painting miniatures, it all traces back to her kitchen table and the belief that there’s always something worth creating.
Four Decades of Rolling Dice
I’ve been a Dungeon Master, player, and miniature painter since 1981. That’s over 40 years of campaigns, character deaths, legendary moments, and countless hours hunched over tiny figures with a brush. I’ve seen the hobby evolve from the early days when 0 hit points meant rolling a new character – no death saves, no mercy from the dice.
Every miniature that leaves my workshop carries that experience. I know what makes a good gaming piece because I’ve used thousands of them. I understand the weight of a well-crafted figure in your hand, the satisfaction of seeing your character come to life on the table.
Quality You Can Trust
I have one simple rule: if it’s not good enough for me to use in my own games or give as a gift, it doesn’t ship.
After running a karate school for 30+ years and managing businesses across multiple industries, I’ve learned that reputation is everything. Every print gets the same attention I’d give to a piece for my own collection. If there’s a flaw, it gets reprinted. If it’s damaged in shipping, I replace it.
This isn’t just business – it’s personal. When you order from Kingfisher, you’re getting a piece that’s been approved by someone who’s been part of this community since the beginning.
Why 3D Printing?
After 40+ years of rolling dice, painting miniatures, and running campaigns, I know what makes a great gaming piece. I’ve been part of this community since 1981 – through the early days when 0 hit points meant rolling a new character, no mercy from the dice.
3D printing lets me create the unique pieces that bring campaigns to life, right here in London, Ontario. Instead of hunting through stores for “close enough” miniatures, I can offer exactly what your campaign needs – pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
I’ve got 6 printers running and a lifetime license with STLFlix, which means access to designs that most shops can’t offer. Every piece is printed on-demand, right here in Canada, with the same attention to detail I’ve been applying to miniatures for four decades.
